FAQs

What do I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that allows you to move freely. It can get warm at some dances so many dancers bring a change of shirt or outfits if they know they will be working up a sweat

What shoes should I bring?

An indoor pair of shoes are always welcome on the dance floor, there are so many choices for shoes that it really does become a personal choice. One thing to consider is that swing dancing can be quick and athletic so a pair of shoes that allows you to move around the dance floor all night are the best option.

Do I need a partner?

You do not need a partner, this is a social dance so you can dance with all the people at the dance if you have the energy and stamina!

Do I have to rotate partners ?

This is a social dance that values individuality, improvisation and creativity. Rotating partners allows dancers to really explore those values and find their ‘voice’ as a dancer. You don’t have to rotate partners however, we hope you feel comfortable enough at our classes and dances to dance with as many dancers as you can.

What kind of music do you play?

We play jazz music! The music will span from the 1920’s right up into the 1950’s for influence although some of the musicians we might be featuring could be current artists. There is a music tab on the website that will give you a nice start on some of the influential musicians we play because they make us want to dance
